Hong Kong Bistro
About This Spot
Walking into Hong Kong Bistro feels like slipping into a quiet corner of a bustling Hong Kong neighborhood, right in the heart of Seattle’s Chinatown-International District. The pace here is unhurried yet alive with subtle energy — a steady hum of conversation and the faint clatter of bamboo steamers. It’s the kind of place where familiar faces mingle with curious newcomers, creating an inviting atmosphere that’s both approachable and sincere.
The space itself is warm and straightforward, focusing attention on what really matters: the food and the shared experience of savoring it. Whether you’re settling in for one of their famously delicate dim sum offerings or exploring dim sum staples that arrive all day long, there’s a comforting ritual in watching each bite reveal layers of texture and flavor. The freshly steamed dumplings, flaky buns, and carefully crafted rice rolls carry whispers of tradition, balanced by the subtle creativity in items like their tofu with salt and pepper or the string beans kissed by XO sauce.
Hong Kong Bistro’s kitchen respects the rhythm of Cantonese cooking, where every plate is a thoughtful composition rather than simply a meal. Here, a bowl of pork hock noodle soup or a plate of house special fried rice becomes an invitation to pause and share — a quiet reminder that food is a connector, a story told through tastes and textures. The staff contribute to this genuine vibe with their friendly attentiveness, making the experience feel less like dining out and more like being welcomed into someone’s kitchen.
It’s also a spot where the details matter — from the way the mango freeze with coconut milk and sago balances sweetness and refreshment to the comforting familiarity of sweet and sour pork that carries a nostalgic note. The flow of dishes arriving at your table encourages lingering conversations and small moments of joy, perfect for those who love food that tells a story without needing to shout.
Hong Kong Bistro isn’t flashy or staged; it’s simply a place where Cantonese flavors find a respectful, homey stage to shine. It’s in these quiet pockets of authenticity that you realize the difference between a meal and a memory made.

The cart-style rice noodles here taste incredibly authentic — just like what you’d get in Hong Kong! The desserts are delicious as well, and the overall environment is clean and pleasant. Definitely a great spot to satisfy your HK cravings.

Visited it yesterday on Monday and it didn't disappoin. Everything tasted fresh and expertly made. the dishes were delicious with great textures and flavors. A true Hong Kong dim sum style !. Service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere felt authentic and welcoming. Easily one of the best dim sum spots around — we’ll definitely be back.

I really enjoy the dim sum at Hongkon Bistro, especially their baked items. The buns are always beautifully made, look great, and taste fresh—overall, the flavor is consistently good. That said, I’ve noticed the pineapple bun with butter (bolo bao) has gotten noticeably smaller compared to before. It feels lighter and less substantial, almost like there’s less dough than it used to have, while the price has gone up. The quality of the bread has unfortunately dropped quite a bit. I truly hope the restaurant can keep the original quality and portion size—please don’t compromise the product just to cut costs, because this is a place with a great name and I’d hate to see it decline.

The staff at Hong Kong Bistro are really friendly, cheerful, and easy to talk to. Most of the food is delicious, though the fried taro today was a bit greasy. One big plus: the staff were so kind and even replaced it for me—definitely appreciated!

Good experience! It was busy night but there's plenty of tables and no wait time. Service was quick and courteous: food arrived promptly. I thought the Duck vermicelli was too salty, noodles undercooked and hard, and duck meat wasn't that great; but the shrimp with chives dumpling was fantastic (and huge too). Would return here without hesitation.

Not the most most authentic flavours of Hong Kong but we are in Seattle afterall. The menu options are extensive and we are spoilt for choices on what to order! Food portion is huge and good for sharing. The Hong Kong milk tea is quiet legit though :) Our server is also friendly and food came fast too. Overall, we had a satisfying meal!

Another great go-to for dim sum! Although it can get busy during peak times, such as a weekend lunch. But once you stick it out and wait (just don’t go while you’re super hungry!), you’ll be pleasantly surprised with how good their dishes are! Our usuals, shu mais, shrimp balls, sticky rice, tripe, etc are always a hit. They’ve got so much shrimp in them! I love their green beans…so much flavor! We’ll occasionally get a lukewarm dish and maybe a slower than usual service, but it’s because they’re so busy! I love sitting in the booths; it feels away from the hustle and bustle and is a little more quiet and intimate.

I come here all the time especially for the dim sum. Their menu also features cook to order dim sum (my favorites are the sui mai, shrimp & chives dumpling, fried shrimp dumplings and black peppered beef). This place is also always busy and the wait could be a little bit long, but they’re usually accommodating and fast.
